Please welcome Katelyn A. Childs to the position of the 2008-2009 Central Region Venturing President. Katelyn is a born and bred buckeye from Tipp City, Ohio, and the Miami Valley Council. She has been involved in Venturing for six years; she is a member of Crew 268 out of Sulfur Grove United Methodist Church. Katelyn served as Venturing President for Area 4 in addition to VP of Program, Secretary and Treasurer, for her council's Venturing Officer's Association. She has also served as Crew President, VP Program and Treasurer for her Venturing Crew. Katelyn has earned the Venturing Bronze Awards in Sports and Outdoors, the Venturing Gold Award, the Venturing Silver Award, the Quest Award, and has been presented the Venturing Leadership Award from her local Scout Council. As a lifetime Girl Scout she earned the GSA's Gold Award. She is a Junior at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio and is an Honors Biology student and intends to attend Dental School and pursue a general dentistry degree after graduation. Katelyn brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the position of Central Region Venturing President. She is always available to assist councils and areas in starting Teen Leaders Councils, promoting Venturing to prospective youth, and offering inspiration and guidance to existing Venturing officers, volunteers and professional staff advisors. |
