Fall Quarterly Report
You are invited to review Thomas' Fall report until John files his first report this fall.
GOALS
- To build up and promote the Regional Venturing Officer's Association.
- To make the regional website a better means of communication for the region.
- To encourage Venturers to attend the National High Adventure Bases and also attend their council, regional, and national events.
- To work closely with the Regional Boatswain to promote sea scouting around the region.
- To encourage Venturers to attend training on the local and national levels.
- To support the councils around the region and help them develop successful council VOAs.
- To recruit youth to serve as Area and Regional venturing officers.
- To represent the Venturing Program in the Southern Region by providing a positive example of the Venturing spirit.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
So far it has been lots of fun to be the Southern Region Venturing President. I have had the opportunity to visit several councils around the region and have been quite impressed by them. It is my hope that other councils around the region will develop successful VOAs like the ones I have seen so far. When the cabinet attended the Philmont Training Center we had the opportunity to visit with scouts out there. We were pleased to see that many of them where very interested in the venturing program and were considering joining a unit near them. It is my hope that all of those scouts take the initiative to go out and join a unit. I look forward to visiting many more councils which have already made contact with me.
